On September 30th we will be hosting our 7th annual Fall Fair from 10am to 2pm.
This is a FANTASTIC family event and its is FREE. Starting with a family focused service the morning takes off and then moves into a fun, family carnival with games, door prizes, corn husking and pumpkin toss, a bouncy castle A FREE LUNCH and much more!
So, invite your friends, invite coworkers, invite neighbors, invite classmates. This is an opportunity to show our community we love them and a chance for us to spend time together too!
We also need volunteers and donors. Donate a new item for a door prize - large or small. Enter your preserves or chili for the contest, volunteer in the kitchen or supervise a games. Can you paint faces?
In the foyer there is a sign up sheet. We could use your help. There are many opportunities for you to share you time, your skills and your talents. Please look over the sheet and sign up!
All grade 5, 6 & 7s are invited to come out every Tuesday from 7-8:30pm for a great night of fun and friends!
Our first night is September 11th and we are kicking it off with a PIZZA PARTY! Bring some friends! The more the merrier!
This year we have some new and returning volunteers. Karalee Choi, Kris Olafson and Kirsten Smith will once again be helping lead us into all sorts of awesomeness and Michelle Boodle will be bringing creative ideas and fresh fun into the mix. We are planning more special events so make sure you take a look at the 527 calendar insert.
Make sure you register for this new year! It is going to be a blast and you don’t want to miss out.
You can get your 2012/2013 527 registration form from Karalee. Be sure to grab one for a friend too!
Over the summer while working with the kids in Kids’ Church I was confronted with an important need. Some of our children did not have Bibles of their own.
I feel so strongly that the kids who come to our church need to have not only a Bible but their own Bible that is geared to them.
So, we are investing in our children. We have purchased Jesus Storybook Bibles for Kids’ Church children four to six years old. And children’s Quest Study Bibles for children seven to 11 years old.
If you know of a child who does not own their own children’s Bible please let Pastor Karalee know. We want every child to know that God’s Word is for everyone...God’s Word is for them!
If you would like to support this project feel free to make a donation towards children’s ministries.
The children who have already received Bibles are so excited and proud to have their very own Bible. One mother even shared that her 8 year old son had taken his camping.
Passion for God’s Word is a treasure. Let build that into our children!
Kids Church will be back in the swing of things October 7th (the Sunday after the Fall Fair).
In Kids’ church the K-Gr. 7 class are going to be combined. We have found that when the age groups are joined the children have broader discussions, behavior problems virtually disappear and all children learn to serve the others in their group.
We will be exploring the Bible starting with Abraham. Lessons are adapted from the Jesus Storybook Bible.
We had started using this curriculum with our K– Gr. 1s before the summer break and the response from teachers and children has been VERY positive.
The Bible is approached as one book telling God’s story, which happens to be our story too. Each week we take another step towards Jesus and the Great Rescue Plan.
We are also exploring the option of Christian Education classes for adults and children before the morning service. If you are interested in learning more about available classes please talk to one of the pastors.
OMEGA STUDENTS
We are so excited that we will be receiving another team of students from the OMEGA program at Summit Pacific College.
Their first Sunday will be September 23rd and they will be participating in the volunteer training during the service.
We were SO blessed by the team that joined us last year. They served in the children’s programs downstairs on Sundays and were excellent! So excellent!
This year’s team looks to be another fantastic group of young people. Not only do we benefit from the extra hands and hearts for ministry but the students receive valuable team and ministry experience.
Please help us welcome them and show them our appreciation.
Last year we tried to provide lunches for the students after church. Different people/ families volunteered to provide lunch either at the church or in their home. If you can help by providing a meal for about a dozen people please sign up to be placed on the schedule.
Help us to welcome them and help them feel at home!
Teacher & Volunteer Training
Our teacher, leader & helper training will take place on September 23rd during the service.
If you are or would like to be involved in Nursery, Kids Church or Preteen ministries please attend.
We will be reviewing our policies regarding ratios, health & safety, curriculum & supplies while kids have a PJ & movie day.
Children’s ministry is SO important. If a person does not make a decision to follow Christ before the age of eleven, their chances of ever doing so drop by about 80%.
Working with children and sharing the Good News with them is vital to the health and growth of the Body of Christ. Kids can pray. Kids can serve. Kids can give testimony. Kids can share Jesus with others. Kids can make an eternal difference.
As children’s ministry workers we get to help equip kids to do just that!
